Ronald Gastelum is responsible for implementing policies of the 37-member board of directors.
As Metropolitan's chief spokesman, he works with federal, state and local officials, both elected
and appointed, to carry out the district's mission. He served as a member of MWD’s board of directors
from January to November 1998, and is the first former board member and first Latino to be named chief
executive officer in the agency's 71-year history. Gastelum received his juris doctorate from UCLA’s
School of Law. He also holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Whittier College.
