Rusty was elected to the City Council in Campbell, California in 1972, becoming the youngest
elected official in US history at the age of 18. In 1975 he was elected Mayor of Campbell,
California, the youngest Mayor of an incorporated city in US history. He served two terms as
Mayor and retired from politics in 1982. He was later employed by Quadrex Corporation, serving
in a variety of management and senior management positions before becoming president of the
company and a member of the Board of Directors. Rusty joined the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber
of Commerce as President and CEO in 1994 and became Chairman and CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber
of Commerce this previous year. Rusty earned his BS Degree in Political Science at the University of
Santa Clara and an MA in Public Administration at San Jose State University while in political office.
